UFC president Dana White stated Wednesday night that he planned to put Wanderlei Silva and Chael Sonnen in the co-main event slot for UFC 167: St-Pierre vs. Hendricks in November.
However, it appears as if White is going to have to eat his words due to demands Silva is now making.
“(Silva) said he won’t fight (Sonnen) unless he gets PPV (points), so I guess he’s gonna retire,” White wrote via text message to MMAFighting.com on Thursday.
PPV points are a percentage of the revenue that the UFC receives from each purchase of the event. It tends to go to the top fighters, such as Georges St-Pierre, Anderson Silva and others.
White’s comments would make it seem as if the bout is no longer on the table, and Silva’s UFC career is over, as well.
