Josh Barnett will be looking to rebuild his reputation as one of the most fierce heavyweight competitors when he and Frank Mir hook ’em up in the co-main event of UFC 164: Henderson vs. Pettis 2.
Both Mir and Barnett have fought Daniel Cormier to decision. Barnett says Cormier gave him a few pointers for his upcoming August 31st bout with the bone crushing submission whiz, as did he just before Cormier made his Octagon debut opposite Mir.
“We’re good friends, I actually called Cormier in his locker room before he went out to fight Mir last time and gave him my breakdown, he actually hit me up and gave me some lowdown from his fight & what he took from it, just because I still want to fight the guy and beat him.”
Barnett has been absent in competition since a first-round submission finish of Nandor Guelmino at Strikeforce’s final show in January. Mir was just beat by unanimous decision in his last fight with Cormier.
