UFC president Dana White appeared on FOX Sports Live and announced that Lyoto Machida would face Tim Kennedy in the main event of UFC Fight Fort The Troops 3 in November.
Machida, a former UFC light heavyweight champion, will be moving down to the middleweight division. The card is set for November 6 from Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
“Lyoto Machida is moving down to middleweight to face Tim Kennedy in the next Fight For The Troops on FOX Sports 1,” White said.
Kennedy, who has been pushing to return to action as soon as possible, is a military veteran. After news broke, he immediately took to Twitter, posting, “I have a fight.”
Machida is coming off a loss to Phil Davis in his most recent fight.
