Cole Miller is planning to appeal his decision loss to Manny Gamburyan from this past Saturday’s UFC Fight Night: Shogun vs. Sonnen card.
Miller, who landed a pair of controversial elbows to the head of Gamburyan as the first round came to an end, is appealing based on the fighter receiving extra time between rounds to recover.
“It was just real odd,” said Miller, in an interview with FOX Sports. “The referee didn’t give any indication the fight was over, he also didn’t signal it was a foul.
“A referee doesn’t have to say if a strike is legal; a referee has to say if a strike was illegal. No indication was made.”
Gamburyan recovered and came back strong, taking the bout. The referee did warn him he had just a minute between rounds, but by that time, he had received an additional minute as the situation was sorted out.
