Anderson Silva: I Don’t Like Fighting Fellow Brazilians

Former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva will do whatever the UFC asks in regards to fighting.

However, “The Spider” would prefer to avoid facing anyone from his native country of Brazil.

Later this year, Silva will look to regain the UFC title when he meets Chris Weidman at UFC 168: Weidman vs. Silva 2.

Recently, he talked with Combate about taking on the likes of Vitor Belfort or Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza – both fellow Brazilians.

“If I’m your friend, I’m your friend; and money or status won’t matter,” Silva said. “We are employees of the UFC, but I don’t like to fight against Brazilians.

“I wouldn’t like to fight a friend of mine.”

Silva previously bested Belfort, knocking him out in impressive fashion to retain his title. Earlier this year, he was finished by Weidman, his first loss inside the Octagon.
