The UFC has parted ways with lightweight Reza Madadi after the fighter was charged in Sweden.
Madadi, 35 years old, faces up to 18 months in prison for his role in a burglary in which he and and associate broke into a designer handbag store. The two reportedly made off with $150,000 worth of stolen goods.
Madadi has until September 6 to file an appeal. He was found guilty of aggravated burglary.
During his short UFC career, Madadi (13-3) went 2-1, defeating Yoislandy Izquierdo and Michael Johnson.
“Following his conviction by a court of law in Sweden, the UFC organization has elected to terminate its relationship with Reza Madadi based on its Fighter Code of Conduct and the provision of its promotional agreement concerning fighter conduct,” the statement read.
