Diego Brandao wanted to finish Daniel Pineda at UFC Fight Night 26 though an injury early into the bout changed everything.
“I tried to finish from the beginning, but I think I broke my hand in the first round so I decided to take him down,” said Brandao to MMA Fighting. “Right now, I feel pain. 100 percent I broke it and I can’t wait to see a doctor.”
The two opened the prelims on FS1 in a fight where both appeared tired after one round.
Brandao is now 4-1 since winning The Ultimate Fighter. It’s his second win this year, taking a submission to Pablo Garza in April.
Pineda has fought frequently since 2012. He’s gone 3-3 in that short time.
