Former Strikeforce heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem entered the UFC expecting to become the new leader of the division.
After a 1-2 record, including two straight knockout finishes, the former invincible Overeem could be headed out the door.
“I have no idea,” said UFC president Dana White, on Overeem’s future Saturday night after UFC Fight Night: Shogun vs. Sonnen. “I don’t know.”
Overeem was in position to top Travis Browne before “Hapa” landed a kick right to the chin. Two fists to the face later and “The Reem” was unconscious.
Overeem (36-13) had won eight straight and was unbeaten in his last 12 from 2007 until his fight with Silva earlier this year.
