Matt Brown has now won six in a row in the UFC’s welterweight division and wants Georges St-Pierre.
Brown finished Mike Pyle in just 29 seconds Saturday night at UFC Fight Night: Shogun vs. Sonnen, earning his fifth stoppage win during his current streak.
“Mike Pyle is good enough to be champion; he is better than GSP, I guarantee that,” Brown said. “Where you at Georges? Six in a row.”
Brown (18-11) was on the cusp of being released following a 1-4 run from 2010-11, but has since become one of the hottest fighters in all of MMA.
He pounced on Pyle, a former training partner and winner of four in a row, after dropping him with a knee to the head before unloading several rights.
“I know how good he really is,” Brown said. “I had to go balls-to-the-wall and straight up, which is how I fight anyway.”
When Joe Rogan said a title shot was forthcoming with finishes like that, Brown responded, “That’s what I’m saying.”
