Steven Siler improved to 23-10 in his career with a convincing finish of former WEC champion Mike Brown Saturday night at UFC Fight Night: Shogun vs. Sonnen.
Siler, who has now won two straight and is 5-1 in his UFC career, has made a name for himself after beating knocked out of the running to win The Ultimate Fighter.
“This is a big, big win,” he said. “Not bad coming from a guy Dana White crossed off on the Ultimate Fighter and beating a former WEC champion.”
Siler caught Brown coming in with a right that dropped him. The 26-year-old pounced, finishing the veteran off with a pair of rights that knocked him out cold.
Brown protested the stoppage, but the reviews showed he was out. Siler noticed, as well.
“I tried to stop (hitting him),” he said. “I knew it was over.
“This is a huge, huge win; I understand how big it is to beat Mike Brown.”
At one time in his career, Siler was just 5-7. He has now won 11 of his last 12 fights overall.
