Former WEC contender Manny Gamburyan had a special coach in the corner for his fight with Cole Miller Saturday night at UFC Fight Night: Shogun vs. Sonnen.
“When Ronda Rousey is yelling at you, you have to win the fight, the game,” said Gamburyan, who is a close friend of the UFC female champion.
Gamburyan put together a solid plan, taking Miller down and overcoming a nasty cut and an elbow that was nearly viewed as illegal and stopped the fight after the first round. He earned a decision on all three scorecards.
“I don’t (expletive) out,” Gamburyan said. “That hurt.”
The 32-year-old improves to 13-7 in his career. Gamburyan defeated Michihiro Omigawa last August.
Rousey herself took to Twitter minutes after the fight, posting, “So proud of (Gamburyan) and the heart he showed in his fight today congrats manny!”
