Murilo “Ninja” Rua’s Job Since Retiring From MMA

Murilo “Ninja” Rua has found a job since retiring from MMA, owning and running his own gas station in Brazil since December.

“We have great costumers here,” said Rua to MMA Fighting. “It wasn’t easy at first. I’m still learning, taking step by step. A guy offered to sell it to my father-in-law and he wanted to buy it, but didn’t want to take care of it, so he bought it and gave it to me and I already paid him back.”

The former EliteXC middleweight champion and Pride veteran retired last September, when Paulo Filho knocked him out in 47 seconds for Brazil’s Best of the Best. He retired the year prior, but came out to challenge Filho.

“Ninja” is the older brother of former UFC light heavyweight champion Mauricio “Shogun” Rua. “Shogun” takes on Chael Sonnen in the main event of the first UFC show on the new FOX Sports 1 channel. The older Rua felt his brother would take the first round finish.

It’s Sonnen vs. “Shogun” at UFC Fight Night 26 tomorrow, August 17. It’s from the TD Garden in Boston, MA and FightLine will have the play-by-play with news to follow.
