Former WEC champion Brian Bowles was hit with a nine-month suspension and finished 30-percent of his fight purse after failing a post-fight drug test earlier this year.
Bowles’ test came back with elevated levels of testosterone. He was defeated by George Roop on the UFC 160 card, dropping his overall record to 10-3 and his UFC mark to 2-2.
The fine will cost him $5,700 of his winnings. The suspension goes back to the date of the event, which was in May.
ESPN’s Brett Okamoto first reported the findings after attending a hearing in which Bowles was present and denied taking any performance-enhancing drugs.
