UFC president Dana White believes in the hype surrounding Conor McGregor.
The brash Irish fighter will face Max Holloway this Saturday night at UFC Fight Night: Shogun vs. Sonnen. Both fighters were part of the pre-fight press conference, something not typically done for prelim competitors.
McGregor, though, isn’t just an ordinary fighter. He has built up a large following thanks to his roots and even held his own media day earlier this week.
“When I went to Ireland all I heard about was Conor McGregor,” White said. “I had never heard of him before. This is a big fight and a great fight.”
Holloway, his opponent, stated that “he came into the UFC in a big way and deserves all the hype.”
McGregor, wearing sunglasses, claimed to be preparing for two things this week:
“There are too things I really like to do: whoop ass and look good. I am doing one of them right now and Saturday night, I will do the other.”
