It was a case of being with the wrong people when Daniel Straus got arrested on several drug charges. In March, Straus was driving his car with two other occupants. They were pulled over and police discovered narcotics on the passengers. Straus said since he was driving, he was considered responsible.
“I learned from that,” said Straus on Verbal Submission. “I’m not gonna sit up here and say, ‘Oh, I’m completely innocent,’ because I shouldn’t have been with certain people, but that’s what it is. With that, I picked up the ball and kept on moving with my life.”
Straus broke his hand shortly before the arrest and had removed himself from his featherweight title shot at Bellator 95. He won Season 6 for his title shot.
Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney said Straus maintains his title shot, but it’s difficult to book him due to the charges. The charges include: driving on a suspended license, possession of cannabis, possession of ecstasy and possession of drug paraphernalia last week.
