Phil Davis knows Lyoto Machida wants a rematch from their UFC 163 encounter, but that’s not happening according to “Mr. Wonderful.”
“You’re not the first person who wants a rematch,” said Davis on The MMA Hour. “You fight every fight like this. You fight close fights. Name one fight that he didn’t finish where he beat the crap out of somebody.”
In the co-main event, all three judges scored it 29-28 for Davis. Heading into the fight, Machida was considered the light heavyweight No. 1 contender. At 19-4, Machida has a mix of finishes and decisions in his career.
Davis has one defeat out of his 13 fights. It was against Rashad Evans and was a title eliminator bout. At UFC 159 in April, Davis also took a decision to Vinny Magalhaes.
While Machida is cleared to return, Davis faces up to a nine month medical suspension for a right foot injury.
