An intriguing bout could be signed for as early as November between Lyoto Machida and Vitor Belfort.
With Belfort not wanting to compete at middleweight unless it is for a title shot, he could meet Machida at 205 pounds or a catch-weight.
“The Dragon,” a former UFC light heavyweight champion, has discussed moving down to middleweight. He is coming off a loss to Phil Davis.
Belfort has topped both Michael Bisping and Luke Rockhold this year. He recently declined a fight at middleweight with Tim Kennedy, but said he would be willing to fight at any weight instead.
Globo’s Combate first reported that talks are in place for the fight between Belfort and Machida to take place November 9.
