Former Strikeforce heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem was pulled from a planned meeting with Junior dos Santos earlier this year after suffering an injury.
Now, with the sting of a loss to Antonio Silva well in the past, Overeem will return to action this Saturday night vs. Travis Browne at UFC Fight Night: Shogun vs. Sonnen.
“I am just focused on doing myself,” Overeem said. “It is important to get the win. I am putting 100-percent effort into that.”
Overeem was expected to fight for the UFC heavyweight title after defeating Brock Lesnar in his Octagon debut. However, a failed pre-fight drug test, subsequent suspension and a loss to “Bigfoot” leaves him unsure of what is next.
“That is up for the gentlemen of the UFC to decide,” he said, when asked about becoming the No. 1 contender with a win.
Overeem stated that he “made a lot of changes in his camp and process” in preparing for Browne, who also lost to Silva last year.
