After his fifth title defense at UFC 163 last weekend, UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo has a broken foot that may keep him out until 2014, and he’s also been hospitalized with kidney stones.
In a late interview with Tatame, Aldo said that he and the members in his training camp are the only ones who don’t use performance enhancing drugs, he also said that the former 5-time UFC heavyweight and light-heavyweight champion, Randy Couture, was also a user of testosterone replacement therapy (TRT), even though he was never busted before or after any of his past fights.
“Americans always used that,” he said. “Randy Couture fought until he was 50, and you say he was clean? If the doctors prescribe you and you’re on the limits, OK, I see no problem. If I need that one day, I will use TRT too.”
One thing is for certain: Aldo doesn’t fight like he needs to take any sort of substance that could give him an advantage over his opponents. His lethal techniques and lighting speed have proved to be too much for 23 out of 24 past opponents.
