Gesias Cavalcante agreed with the referee’s stoppage in his fight with Tyson Griffin as their were several warnings given. Others felt the call was too early.
“I think it should have been stopped,” said Cavalcante to Sherdog. “I heard the referee three times tell him, ‘you got to move.’ After the second time I continued the pressure. He couldn’t escape.”
The win makes Cavalcante, a former DREAM and Strikeforce fighter, 2-1 for the WSOF. The other WSOF win came by submitting TJ O’Brien.
Griffin was a longtime UFC fighter who was released after posting three straight defeats. The loss came in the third round and makes Griffin 16-7.
WSOF 4 was held from the Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, CA. It was yesterday, August 10.
