Lew Polley needs a new job since being released by World Series of Fighting (WSOF) matchmaker Ali Abdel-Aziz for weighing extremely over the limit at the latest show. His WSOF 4 bout with Hans Stringer was cancelled as a result.
“He cost us a lot of money and his opponent was coming in from Holland and I think it’s disrespectful to his opponent to go into it like that,” said Abdel-Aziz. “I’m the last guy who should cut somebody, but if you’re going to be that disrespectful to your opponent, yeah, I’m going to cut you.”
According to Abdel-Aziz, Polley was 20 pounds overweight on Thursday, and then showed up to the weigh-ins Friday heavier at 234 pounds.
A proposed 220 pound catchweight contest was discussed, but Polley continued to pack on pounds and the WSOF had to scratch everything.
Stringer received his show money for the fight and there are plans to book him on the October card.
