WSOF 4: Marlon Moraes Vs. Brandon Hempleman

Marlon Moraes vs. Brandon Hempleman

The co-main event features highly-rated bantamweight Marlon Moraes (10-4-1) taking on Brandon Hempleman (9-1). The referee will be – once again – Michael Bell.

Round 1: Moraes answers an inside leg kick with a thunderous left-right combo to the chin. Incredible power for the Brazilian. Hempleman doesn’t appear to be afraid to stand and trade, throwing strong kicks and his own right hand, as well. Moraes with a huge right as Hempleman tries to get out of the way and he is bleeding down the middle of his face. Moraes drops Hempleman and pounces, firing off a flurry of punches. Hempleman is able to tie up, trying to survive as the blood continues to pour. Hempleman a bloody mess, but the cage-side door rules he can continue.

Round 2: Along with the cut, Hempleman also has a badly damaged lead leg, as Moraes has been peppering it throughout the fight. Both guys are slipping on the mat, having to re-catch themselves many times. Hempleman tries to throw a kick and Moraes lands his own, causing him to fall to the mat. Into the guard and in a bad position now is Hempleman. Hempleman can barely put any weight on his left leg now, as Moraes lands another nasty kick. Hempleman is trying to stay in there, but he might be better off living to fight another day.

Round 3: Hempleman switches stances to start the round, a great idea to stay in this one for another five minutes. His left leg looks like Urijah Faber’s after Jose Aldo was done with him. Big right hand lands on the jaw of Hempleman, who smiles as he takes another kick to the body. Honestly, I have no idea how Hempleman is still in this fight. He’s not going to win, but man, he showed serious heart tonight.
