Former Cage Rage middleweight and Shooto welterweight champion Vitor “Shaolin” Ribeiro has announced his retirement at 34-years-old.
“Yes, I stopped,” said Ribeiro to TATAME. “I have so much to do that I’d have to cancel a lot of commitments only to fight. There’s no reason why people would offer me an interesting fight with so many talents in the market today. It was great as long it lasted, but I don’t see myself fighting MMA again.”
Ribeiro went 20-5 and hasn’t fought since November 2010. He was 1-4 in that final stretch with losses from DREAM and Strikeforce.
His biggest regret was not fighting for PRIDE and doesn’t know why they never called.
