Despite a loss to Antonio Silva, Alistair Overeem isn’t giving up on his dream of becoming UFC heavyweight champion.
Overeem returns to action against Travis Browne this month at UFC Fight Night: Shogun vs. Sonnen in the co-main event.
“My goal is the UFC belt,” said Overeem, during an interview on “UFC Tonight” Tuesday. “That would crown my career. I’m just going to give it all I have.”
Viewed as the No. 1 contender, Overeem was suspended last year after a failed pre-fight drug test. The former Strikeforce champion returned, but was defeated by Silva.
In Browne, he knows what to expect, saying, “He’s very aggressive.” Overeem, though, feels like he has an advantage.
“My experience is going to be the turning point,” he said. “I have so many more fights than he has.”
