Hiroko Yamanaka Retires Following Losing Skid

Hiroko Yamanaka, one of the top ranked women featherweight fighters, has announced her retirement. She confirmed the news on her blog, following a seven year run in the sport.

At the peak of Yamanaka’s career, she joined Strikeforce after several years in Jewels. She took a quick loss to Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos, which was overturned to a no contest as the Strikeforce featherweight champion had steroids in her system.

She ended her time in Strikeforce with a decision loss to Germaine de Randamie. A loss to Ediane Gomes at Invicta FC 4 in January was her final outing.

Yamanaka retires with a 12-3-1 NC record.
