Championship Fighting Alliance (CFA) promoter Jorge de la Noval is tired of fighters playing it safe and will introduce bonus money starting with their next show. At CFA 12, those who finish fights will get some extra cash on top of their “show” and “win” money.
“Fighters are not finishing fights,” said Noval to MMA Junkie. “They’re just going in there to get the win bonus. Look what happened to [Lyoto] Machida and Phil Davis this weekend [at UFC 163]. Neither one went in to prove a point.”
Noval was referencing the controversial win for Davis over the former light heavyweight No. 1 contender.
The exact bonus amount or how it would be determined wasn’t disclosed.
CFA 12 is October 12 from the BankUnited Center in Coral Gables, FL. The main card airs live on AXS TV, with transgender fighter Fallon Fox and Ashlee Evans-Smith going at it for the inaugural women’s featherweight championship.
