The World Series of Fighting (WSOF) 4 card has a mix of old and new faces. Partially left armed fighter Nick Newell is one of the new faces who has received plenty of attention due to his medical condition.
On the card Newell takes on Keon Caldwell, whose manager Richard Cox spoke about WSOF trying to cash in on the one handed sensation.
“Throughout the whole process, it seems like the attention has been on Nick a little more than Keon,” said Cox to MMA Junkie. “[WSOF is] a great company, I just think they’re on the Nick Newell hype train.”
Outside of the whole hand thing, Newell has dominated with an undefeated 9-0 record. All but a single win occurred in round one and he’s a former XFC lightweight champion. He left that promotion and signed with the WSOF in June.
Caldwell is similar to Newell when it comes to records. He’s 9-1 and has finished every fight, only needing more than the opening round on two occasions.
They meet on the main card of WSOF 4 on August 10 with the winner entering a four person tournament to crown their first lightweight champion. It comes from the Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, CA and airs live on the NBC Sports Network.
