Ian McCall Is His Own Worst Critic

Ian McCall joined the UFC and was considered one of the best flyweights in the world. He walked into the Octagon at UFC 163 at 0-2 with a draw, facing uncertainty if he didn’t win. McCall took the decision win on Iliarde Santos, but preferred a stoppage.

“It’s not in me to not finish people,” said McCall to MMA Fighting. “I’m not performing like I know I should. It’s never going to be good enough until I’m knocking people out, submitting them or finishing fights somehow.”

McCall was coming off losses to flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson and Joseph Benavidez. He didn’t miss a step though, with all three judges scoring in his favor. “Uncle Creepy” feels at least three more wins will be needed before talk of a flyweight title shot

Santos is now 0-2 for the UFC since May of this year. The Brazilian flyweight has been fighting for seven years.
