John Lineker may have been a little fatigued from his failed weight cut on Friday, as the flyweight contender looked sluggish vs. Jose Maria Tome at UFC 163: Aldo vs. Korean Zombie Saturday.
Lineker, though, recovered in the second round, finishing Tome with a flurry and earning his third straight Octagon victory.
He missed weight, coming in at 129 pounds, and forfeited 20-percent of his purse after not being able to cut anymore.
“It got a little lost (when a spinning backfist landed in the first), but I was able to recover,” Lineker said. “I went into my game, which is striking (in the second).”
Since a submission loss to Louis Gaudinot in 2012, Lineker (22-6) has finished both Tome and Azamat Gashimov. A right to the body floored Tome, who was making his UFC debut.
