Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal didn’t win Season 8 of Bellator’s light heavyweight tournament, but got a second chance in the 2013 Summer Series. He defeated Jacob Noe in the finals to get a future title shot. During the fight, fans were clearly heard booing the action from time to time.
“If I try to do what the fans want me to do, I’m either going to get knocked out or hurt,” said Lawal to Sherdog. “Anyone can boo. It’s different when you’re out there fighting. My true fans and the true fans of MMA respect what I do. Those who boo, f— them.”
During the Summer Series, Lawal made quick work of Seth Petruzelli before the third round stoppage of Noe. The win makes Lawal 3-1 for Bellator and he takes on the winner of the light heavyweight championship contest between Attila Vegh and Emanuel Newton, which has no set date.
Noe is 3-2 for Bellator and has now failed to win two tournaments. Last time, he was eliminated in the semifinals.
There’s no information about Lawal’s return to MMA or pro wrestling at the moment.
