Marlon Moraes finds himself as one of the more known welterweights in the Indy scene. Though he’s taken his last four for the World Series of Fighting (WSOF) and XFC, he’s still hurting off purse money.
“I’m still fighting and teaching,” said Moraes to Bloody Elbow. “It’s hard, man. It’s hard for us at the beginning of our career to just survive on purse money.”
At 10-4, Moraes joined the WSOF in their debut. He earned a split-decision win against UFC veteran Miguel Torres and made quick work of Tyson Nam. He takes on Brandon Hempleman in his return.
Hempleman is 9-1 and making his debut for the promotion. It’s his first fight of the year.
They’re on the main card of WSOF 4, which is August 10 from the Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, CA.
