Maybe UFC president Dana White was just testing the waters.
Or, maybe he wanted to try and push the button. Heck, maybe he forgot Rashad Evans and Vitor Belfort were training partners.
Nevertheless, “Suga” has stated he will not fight Belfort. The two are friends and training partners at the Blackzilians camp in Florida.
“I won’t fight Vitor,” said Evans, in an interview with ESPN. “I won’t fight anybody who I train with. I made that mistake before and I won’t do that again. I lost a lot of relationships because I did that before.”
Evans was referring to his split with Greg Jackson after Jon Jones took his spot and won the UFC light heavyweight title. Evans left New Mexico, and later fought Jones, falling via decision.
White referenced a potential Belfort-Evans fight recently after “The Phenom” turned down a bout with Tim Kennedy.
