Frank Shamrock Questions Greg Jackson’s Absence On Latest Fight Master

On the latest Fight Master, Greg Jackson team member Tim Welch was the first fight on the show. Before the fight Jackson informed Welch that he had prior commitments and wouldn’t always be around. Jackson left Joey Villasenor and Damacio Page in charge while he’s away.

The move by Jackson left another coach, Frank Shamrock, none too pleased. Shamrock empathized that fighting is 90 percent mental and it’s a coach’s job to help.

“I really felt like Greg needed to be there for Tim, because he had a lot of skill but he was just looking for that little bit of confidence, that little bit of, ‘You can do this. I know you can,’” said Shamrock to MMA Fighting. “That’s why I thought Greg should’ve been there. That what Tim was asking him, ‘Are you going to be here for me?’ And to be honest, I felt like he wasn’t.”

Welch ended up losing to Nick Barnes via a first round rear-naked choke. Also on the episode, Joe Riggs defeated Eric Scallan by unanimous decision. Two fights on next week’s episode will leave the show with eight contestants remaining.

Fight Master airs on Wednesday’s at 10 p.m. ET on Spike TV.
