Tim Kennedy was able to leave the victor in his UFC debut against Roger Gracie last month. When Kennedy returns, he wants someone who also isn’t coming in from the deceased Strikeforce.
“I’d love to fight anybody with a rich history within the sport that’s been a fighter for a long time,” said Kennedy to Bleacher Report. “To get matched up with Wanderlei Silva, an iconic hero of mine, that’s the kind of fight I want.”
Silva has remained rather silent since his Fight of the Night and Knockout of the Night win over Brian Stann. It was in Silva’s return to Japan and aired on UFC on FUEL TV in March. The 37-year-old turned down a challenge from Chael Sonnen.
Kennedy is now 16-4 and riding a pair of wins. He unsuccessfully challenged twice for the Strikeforce middleweight title. He offered to fight Vitor Belfort, but the Brazilian didn’t accept.
Neither individual is currently linked to a fight.
