Tim Kennedy knows a good fighter when he sees them.
Wednesday night, Kennedy watched as Bellator MMA champions Michael Chandler and Ben Askren both picked their respective opponents apart at Bellator 97.
Chandler defeated David Rickels via first round knockout to defend his lightweight crown, while Askren scored a fourth round TKO triumph vs. Andrey Koreschkov.
“Askren & Chandler are seriously gifted fighters,” Kennedy posted on Twitter. “Both put on clinics in different ways. One takes your will, the other your consciousness.”
Kennedy was rumored for a planned bout with Vitor Belfort, but that was shot down by Belfort’s management team for the time being.
“The fight against (Belfort) never materialized,” he posted. “I want to thank (Dana White) and (Lorenzo Fertitta) it was an honor to be considered.”
