Lyoto Machida knows what it feels like to take on Jon Jones, losing a light heavyweight title fight at UFC 140. As Jones continues to destroy the division, Machida names Glover Teixeira as the one to stop the champion.
“I think Glover, he’s great technique, he’s a very strong guy,” said Machida on Fight Hub TV. “He’s training to fight and he can beat Jon Jones one day. He’s good. He’s difficult to take him down, he defends all the time and good cardio too. I think Glover can beat Jon Jones.”
Jones looks to break the title’s record with six defenses when he takes on Alexander Gustafsson. That’s at UFC 165 on September 21.
Teixeira returns against Ryan Bader in September. He will look for his fourth win inside the Octagon and has won almost 20 in a row.
Bader-Teixeira is set for UFC on FS1 3 on September 4. It’s from Brazil’s Mineirinho Arena.
