UFC Tonight Notes: Alan Belcher To Light Heavyweight, Maia-Shields Getting Closer

“UFC Tonight” aired Tuesday on FUEL TV and brought with it several interesting tidbits of information.

– Alan Belcher, who was defeated by Michael Bisping earlier this year, is considering a return to light heavyweight.

The 29-year-old has dropped his last two fights overall after winning four in a row from 2009-2012. He is 9-6 with the UFC and 18-8 overall in his career.

– A previously reported match between Demian Maia and Jake Shields has been agreed to by both sides, but no date has been locked down.

Maia was expected to face Josh Koscheck this week at UFC 163: Aldo vs. Korean Zombie, but Koscheck was forced off the card.

Maia, a former No. 1 contender at middleweight, is 3-0 since moving down to the welterweight division and is 18-4 in his career. Shields (28-6-1) is 2-0-1 in his last three.

– Dan Miller has undergone neck surgery and will be out of action anywhere from six-to-12 months.

Miller (14-7) was defeated by Jordan Mein earlier this year via first round TKO. He is 2-3 in his last five fights overall.

The surgery is similar to the one performed on NFL superstar Peyton Manning.
