Vitor Belfort doesn’t want to fight at middleweight unless the UFC title is on the line.
Belfort, who reportedly has turned down a fight with Tim Kennedy, is willing to compete at a catch-weight or even bigger; just not at 185 pounds and risk his contender spot.
However, according to a report on “UFC Tonight” Tuesday evening, Belfort’s wife and manager wants a meeting with Chael Sonnen.
As host of the show, Sonnen was given a chance to answer, and he accepted – with a stipulation.
Sonnen stated he would meet Belfort at UFC 168: Weidman vs. Silva 2 if it took place at middleweight. Currently, Sonnen is set to face Mauricio “Shogun” Rua next month at UFC Fight Night: Shogun vs. Sonnen.
When he signed his new contract with the UFC, it stated Sonnen would return to middleweight – where he twice competed for the UFC title – after facing Rua.
