Patricio “Pitbull” Freire has two losses in his career. Both came out of Bellator and were split-decisions that Freire thinks could have gone to either fighter.
“I believe if the judges were Brazilian, I would have been awarded the win in both occasions,” said Freire to MMA Junkie. “Nowadays, MMA rules and judging favor the American style of fighting. My goal now is to finish my opponents as quickly as possible.”
Out of Bellator, Freire is 5-2 with the recent defeat coming from featherweight champion Pat Curran. He returns against Jared Downing at Bellator 97 on July 31. It’s from the Santa Ana Star Center in Rio Rancho, NM.
He’ll also return in September opposite Diego Nunes in the opening of the Season 9 featherweight tournament. It’s Freire’s third chance in the tournament.
