Melvin Guillard entered the Octagon with the belief that a defeat would likely lead to a release. The time spent with Team Grudge, showed a more energized lightweight.
“This fight was different,” said Guillard to MMA Fighting. “I had four months to prepare. I lived in Denver, in a basement for four months. I got the eye of the tiger sleeping on that twin mattress in the basement. I let my wife stay at home in the king-size bed.”
The mounted pressure worked as Guillard attacked early and with frequent shots. Halfway through round two, Guillard was able to knockout Mac Danzig. It improves Guillard to 2-2 in recent fights.
Danzig is 7-5 for the UFC. It was his second loss within 12 months.
They fought on the prelims of UFC on FOX 8 on July 27. It came from the KeyArena in Seattle, WA.
