Michael Chiesa could be associated for winning The Ultimate Fighter 15, but rather focus always seems to land on the fuzz around his face. His opponent at today’s UFC on FOX 8, Jorge Masvidal, requested he shave the beard so the chin was seeable. That didn’t happen.
“The fans fell in love with it and I’ve become accustomed to it,” said Chiesa to MMA Fighting. “So now it’s just kind of a part of who I am. Anytime I shave it off, I feel like I look like a pinhead. I need a chin job. I need to get a new chin or something bigger. So I’ll probably just trim it down a bit.”
The lightweight says the UFC wants consistency, so when the beard goes so does use of his archived footage.
For the UFC, Chiesa has two submission wins. They were rear-naked chokes on Al Iaquinta and Anton Kuivanen, with the second one earning Submission of the Night.
Masvidal is 24-7 and one of the Strikeforce fighters to enter the UFC. In his UFC debut, Masvidal took a decision over Tim Means.
They close the prelims of UFC on FOX 8. It’s later today from the KeyArena in Seattle, WA. Like always, FightLine will be there with live play-by-play action and the fallout from the card.
