By leaving the winner at Invicta FC 6, Claudia Gadelha has earned a shot at the strawweight title. Gadelha defeated Ayaka Hamasaki with a third round stoppage and even though the UFC doesn’t have a strawweight division, Gadelha hopes they noticed her.
“The dream of every MMA fighter is to reach the maximum level, which is the UFC, but I’m in no rush,” said Gadelha to TATAME. “Let’s hope Dana White opens other categories for us women. Meanwhile, I will be fulfilling my struggles with Invicta FC.”
Gadelha is undefeated at 11 wins with most coming from Brazil. The Invicta FC fight was her first trip to the United States.
Carla Esparza, who was supposed to defend her strawweight belt at Invicta FC 6 against Hamasaki, is out with an injury. Her return date isn’t known.
