Martin Kampmann is ranked towards the top of the welterweight division. Right by his side is Rory MacDonald and Jake Ellenberger, who compete in the co-main event of UFC on FOX 8 this Saturday, July 27.
“I think Ellenberger can get a finish, but the longer the fight goes, the better it is for MacDonald,” said Kampmann to Sherdog. “Ellenberger has shown [a tendency] to fade a little bit as the fight goes on because he comes out hard. He’s going to come hard in this fight, but I don’t know. They are two great guys, so I’m looking forward to watching that one.”
MacDonald is returning from a neck and back injury that caused him to miss all of this year. He’s 14-1 and comes off a December decision win over BJ Penn.
Ellenberger is 8-2 for the UFC and rides a pair of wins. He last took Knockout of the Night for his first round stoppage of Nate Marquardt.
Kampmann has fought Ellenberger, defeating him in the process. He takes on Carlos Condit in a rematch at UFC on FS1 2 on August 28. Like always, FightLine will be there with live play-by-play coverage and any news to follow.
