Melvin Guillard was considered a potential lightweight title contender at one time. Nowadays, he’s looking to still have a job come Sunday morning.
“My goal right now is to get some quality wins,” said Guillard. “I’m in the toughest division in the UFC right now, so I have to work even harder to get to that goal of a title. But right now, I’m not thinking about a title; I’m thinking about staying in the UFC and keeping my job.”
At UFC on FOX 8, Guillard takes on Mac Danzig.
Guillard had five straight wins during his UFC peak. The eight year UFC veteran has dropped to 1-4 in his latest outings, with three coming via stoppage in round one.
Danzig won The Ultimate Fighter as a welterweight in 2007. He’s traded wins and losses over the last few years as a lightweight.
They are set for the prelims of UFC on FOX 8, which is July 27. It’s from Seattle, WA’s KeyArena and FightLine will have live coverage.
