There are countless combat sports, but most stick to one. Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal doesn’t as he works for Bellator and TNA Wresting. As for Lawal’s favorite all-around fighter, that distinction belongs to Semmy Schilt.
“I’m just saying as far as versatility,” said Lawal on MMA Junkie Radio. “You don’t see many guys that can go and be versatile. He won by decision, submission and TKO as a mixed martial artist and then went to K-1 dominating the greats as a kickboxer.”
Schilt is a retired MMA fighter and kickboxer. He last won the GLORY 4 one night tournament to end 2012 with his sixth straight win. In MMA, Schilt spent time in the UFC and PRIDE over a decade ago. He’s since retired from competition on advice from his doctors due to a heart condition.
Lawal returns at Bellator 97 on July 31 against Jacob Noe in the finals of the light heavyweight Summer Series tournament. It comes from the Santa Ana Star Center in Rio Rancho, NM and airs on Spike TV.
