By changing his lifestyle, Danny Castillo will enter UFC on FOX 8 a sober man. While the longtime WEC and UFC employee never had an alcohol problem, the substance was harming his training.
“I gave that up because I want to be a better fighter,” said Castillo on MMA Junkie Radio. “I think that’s what I was lacking, so that’s all behind me now. I have one goal and that’s to be the best fighter I can be and with me drinking, I’m not able to do that.”
Castillo was with the WEC until their closure. He’s 5-2 for the UFC and coming off a decision win over Paul Sass in February.
The lightweight meets Tim Means in less than a week. Means is 2-1 for the UFC with the defeat thanks to Jorge Masvidal.
UFC on FOX 8 is July 27 from the KeyArena in Seattle, WA.
