UFC heavyweights Roy Nelson and Daniel Cormier will settle their differences inside the Octagon, as the two will comprise the co-main event at UFC 166: Velasquez vs. Dos Santos 3.
UFC officials confirmed the bout, which will go down from Houston’s Toyota Center on October 19. In the main event, UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez defends his title against Junior dos Santos.
Nelson’s (19-8) status for the planned bout was in question, as “Big Country’s” contract recently expired. The former winner of The Ultimate Fighter appears to have resigned with the promotion following a 6-4 mark that included a loss to Stipe Miocic in his most recent bout.
Cormier (12-0) scored an impressive win over Frank Mir in his Octagon debut earlier this year. The former Olympian was also the winner of the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix.
