Anthony Pettis took Benson Henderson’s WEC lightweight title once and is expecting a repeat performance, just for the UFC strap this time. At WEC 53, Pettis took a decision to win the title in Fight of the Year for 2010.
“I’m looking at it and I want his belt now,” said Pettis to Bleacher Report. “I took his WEC belt and now it’s time to get that UFC belt. I’ve always felt I’m the best lightweight in the world and now it’s my chance to prove it.”
Henderson is undefeated in the UFC with seven wins. The last four have been decisions for his belt.
Pettis dropped to featherweight for a title shot, but an injury changed those plans. He’s now back at lightweight and coming off a minor injury.
They’re a go to close UFC 164 on August 31. It’s from the BMO Harris Bradley Center in Milwaukee, WI.
