Keon Caldwell will look to be the first person to defeat Nick Newell as they both prepare for their World Series of Fighting (WSOF) debuts. What makes Newell’s run even more impressive is that he’s done it with one hand.
“I’ve seen Nick Newell in fights before and I’m like, ‘This guy is amazing,’” said Caldwell on MMA Junkie Radio. “He’s just running through guys. He’s got the talent that God gave him. With the one hand, most guys wouldn’t even get in the cage. I don’t doubt him at all. He’s a good athlete and a guy with a big heart.”
Newell is undefeated with nine wins and finished all but one in the first round. He was the XFC lightweight champion before opting not to resign with them and instead joined WSOF.
Caldwell is 9-1 and hasn’t fought in over two years. He appeared on The Ultimate Fighter, but left due to family issues unrelated to the show.
WSOF 4 is August 10 from the Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, CA.
