Gegard Mousas has made it known he wants Vitor Belfort. In response, Belfort has nixed the idea and teased a shot at the middleweight title.
“It’s simple, Vitor and I would fight in the past, before the Affliction, the UFC now,” said Mousasi to TATAME. “Vitor knows that it is inevitable that we will meet in the Octagon.”
Out of Strikeforce and DREAM, came Mousasi. He held the light heavyweight championship for the two promotions.
Belfort is undefeated this year with a pair of wins. He lost a middleweight title fight in round one to then champion Anderson Silva in 2011.
Mousasi is injured for the remainder of the year and UFC president Dana White said Belfort’s title ideas are on hold.
